The walk to his Row 3 seat captured everyone and crescendoed when he turned and waved to a full house. Only when the applause started from orchestra house left and surged Radio City like an acoustic wave did everyone realize President Clinton was being ushered in. Likewise, no one realized that the show started 35 minutes late, not because we had no phone to tell time, but because everyone was captured in that timeless pastime of conversation. A full house without a single nascent light distracting another audience member. The unique absence of iPhones placed everyone back in time, when Cole Porter and the Gershwin’s ruled without distraction. Tony Bennet stole everybody’s heart, and we aided and abetted!
